ShrinKit Ltd – Flexibility and cost savings with Bowles & Walker
The Company
ShrinKit Ltd (formerly Michael Greengrass Developments) is an integrated design and manufacturing company based in Norwich, established in 1980. They specialise in the development and production of handheld gas shrink guns for shrink wrapping products.
The company started to expand in 2000, selling their products to distributors across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
The Problem
ShrinKit came to Bowles and Walker in 2008, after experiencing issues with quality and consistency from their previous moulding company. We used close communication and collaboration to carry out several trial production runs, eventually making some modifications to their mould tooling. This helped to identify and iron out any issues or potential defects to their existing plastic parts.
What we did
We wanted to make sure Shrinkit could save on manufacturing costs and only pay for the stock they needed. To facilitate this, we produced several small runs each year, as opposed to doing a monthly run and creating an abundance of the parts they wouldn’t need.
We also store a quantity of their stock in our warehouse, for times where Shrinkit needed access to their product right away. This way, they’re able to keep manufacturing costs down and only pay for what they need to, without limitations.
The Outcome
Today, we continue to work with ShrinKit, helping them produce their high quality and reliable shrink gun systems.
