Committing to Environmental Standards and Joining the United Nations Race to Zero
Bowles and Walker are proud to become a member of the SME Climate Hub. This is a global initiative that empowers small to medium sized companies to take action against climate change and build more resilient businesses. Through the SME Climate Hub, we are committed to lower our impact on the environment through authentic action. We aim to halve our emissions by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050. In making this commitment, we have joined the United Nations Race to Zero campaign.
Alongside our commitment to the SME Climate Hub, we have also become a member of the international Operation Clean Sweep® initiative (OCS). Led by the British Plastics Federation, the OCS initiative’s aim is to ensure that no plastic pellets, flakes or powders that pass through manufacturing facilities end up in our rivers or seas.
We are always keen to play our part in protecting the environment and by signing up to OCS, we have committed to adhere to best practice and implement systems that prevent plastic pellet loss. This aligns very nicely with our existing philosophy of being an environmental moulding company. We strongly believe that plastic as a material is not the problem, it’s how we take care and deal with it.
Plastic is a material that is vital to many industries and without it they would be unable to function, but discarded plastic has no place in the natural environment. That’s why we believe it should be treated with the respect it deserves as a complex, useful and essential material.
Here at Bowles & Walker we are always trying to improve our environmental standards and reduce our carbon footprint. We are looking into the future with great anticipation, striving to achieve our environmental targets and beyond.
